Stargate Project: $500 Billion AI Infrastructure Investment Announced

On January 21, 2025, US President Donald Trump announced the Stargate Project, a joint venture between OpenAI, SoftBank, Oracle, and MGX to invest up to $500 billion over four years building AI data centers across the US.

SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son chairs the venture. By late 2025, the project expanded to five new data center sites across Texas, New Mexico, and Ohio with nearly 7 gigawatts of planned capacity.

This is the largest infrastructure investment in the future of AI technology, aimed at strengthening the US position in the global AI race.
